Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Reckless driving 46.2-862

I was pulled over for doing 85 in a 65 zone on I-64. I'm a Maryland resident with a clean record. The court is far from my house, so I was wondering if I could send a lawyer in my place without having to show up? If that's not possible, do the court-appointed lawyers do a good job representing these types of cases?

I can't speak for all courts, but if you have a clean record and have not been to a zealous with your speed, you have a fair chance to get probation before judgment if found guilty. This, of course, is not a guarantee. Most courts will require your attendance. This, however, varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Where one attorney may be helpful, is in making the officer meet his burden of proof showing that you truly were guilty and by presenting a case for why you should receive a PBJ, instead of a guilty verdict, if actually found guilty. Please feel free to e-mail me if I can be of any further help.

Since each person's situation is different, it would be impossible and unethical to give legal advice without a full conference as an attorney/client relationship would require, obtaining in-depth facts particular to that case.
