Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Reckless Driving at School Zone

I was issued a Reckless driving ticket for driving at 50mph at a school zone which is 25mph few days back. It was at 3pm after school hours on a clear day. I did not realized my speed until the cop stopped me and my first question to him is ''Did I do anything wrong?'' This is my first time receiving reckless ticket and have to go to the court. I am worry to have a bad record, what should I do and what can I do now?

Re: Reckless Driving at School Zone

Hire an attorney if you can afford it, since Reckless Driving is a misdemeanor and jailable offense and worth about six points or so on your DMV record in the event that you're convicted.

If you cannot afford to hire a defense counsel, then see if the court will appoint one to represent you, depending upon whether you meet the income requirements to qualify for court-appointed representation for this type of offense.
