Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Reckless Driving summons

I got a reckless driving ticket (85/65) recently and have court date (Sussex county)on 5/9. I have a perfect driving record & this is the first time I have gotten into this trouble. I am not sure what the implications are and possible options for me. I am willing to pay the fine but am not sure if that is going to be the end of the story. Please advice.

Re: Reckless Driving summons

You should have an attorney representing you for this jailable offense. If you cannot afford to hire one on your own, you can request that the court appoint one to represent you.

In the event that you should face the court of justice, unrepresentened by competent defense counsel, for whatever reason, you might consider approaching the prosecutor assigned to your case

early in the morning before court convenes with an offer to plead guilty to a charge of improper

driving as permitted under Va. Traffic Code S46.2-869----where the "culpability is slight".
