Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

A few of the speed humps in my Arlington, VA neighborhood have double yellow lines painted on them. I recently crossed the double line to go around three teens walking past a car parked next to the hump. A police officer ticketed me for crossing the double line. I've had a spotless driving record (not even a parking ticket) for 28 years. Is this worth fighting in court on the basis of an extenuating circumstance, i.e., giving the teens plenty of room for safety reasons?

Sure, why not? (Assuming that after 28 years, you have the time.)
