Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

speeding in virginia

Hello, I am 19 and I was recently pulled over for speeding on the interstate in Virginia Beach. The officer said he clocked me at 71 in a 55 and I claimed to be going 60. That is what my speedometer said when he put his lights on. Also, I was stayig with the traffic that was around me. I was wondering (1) what is the statute of limitations for speeding tickets in Virginia? and (2) is there a way I can request a plea bargain to go to driving school so that I dont get the points on my license and my insurance doesnt go up, since this is my first moving violation?

Re: speeding in virginia

As far as I know, statutes of limitations do not apply to traffic

infractions, and although you may be able to conclude a plea bargain to a lesser speeding infraction, the number of points assigned to your driving record is controlled by the DMV and not by the court nor the prosecutor.
