Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
I was stopped and cited for a traffic violation while in Virginia on a business trip. Since I live out of state, I will be requesting a Trial In Absence.
I understand that making a request for a Trial In Absence will likely lead to my conviction, but was hoping that drafting a letter of apology, addressing my actions and noting that this was my first offense in almost 8 years of driving, might elicit some leniency from the court.
Would anybody recommend doing this?
Thank you very much for your advice!

Yes, but also include a description of any mitigating circumstances which might apply to your receiving this ticket.
