Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Two Tickets Within a Month

On 6/6/06 I received a summons for speeding, 54 in a 35, by a VBPD officer. Then, on 7/2/06, I received a summons for reckless driving, speeding 77 in a 55, by a state trooper. Both incidents were via radar. I work in a position where my drivers license is a necessity, and I also will need it so I can commute to school in the fall. What could I be possibly looking at? Those are the only two infractions on my record.

I would recommend that you consult with an attorney. Reckless driving is a criminal offence and carries the possibility of jail time. However, it is unlikely jail would be imposed unless the are aggravating circumstances such as an accident. The court also has the authority to suspend your license.

You would be well advised to be represented by counsel on the reckless charge since that is the one likely to have the most adverse consequences for you.
