Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia
First time offense for reckless driving
I was driving on I-81 and was pulled over for reckless driving in Botetourt County. I was clocked going 85 in a 65 and my question is, this is my first offense of any type of driving tickets. What is the most typical punishment for this offense. Also, I have heard that Botetourt is very harsh when it comes to traffic law, is it wise for me to seek legal council.

Reckless can carry jail time depending on the circumstances.
Get a calibration. Don't worry if you don't think it's off or not. Just get one.
Get a lawyer. Always get a lawyer. You are always better off with a lawyer than without.
