Traffic accident at ''right-on-red'' intersection - who is at fault?
I recently had a ''near miss'' incident that has me wondering who would have been at fault if this situation had resulted in an accident. I was stopped at a red light on a road going south to north. At this intersection, making a right-on-red is allowed. After I determined that there were no cars coming toward the intersection to my left (from west to east) from the cross road, I proceeded to make a right to go east (from the south) while my light was red. At the same time, a vehicle in the left-turn lane at the crossroad (coming from the east to go south) made a U-turn at the traffic light and almost hit me as I was making my right turn into the east-bound lane. If we had collided, I'm curious who would have been considered at fault?
