Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

traffic violation

Does VA have a prayer for judgment in their traffic system? I know my wife pled that in NC, and had it awarded, where she still paid the fine, but it did not hit our insurance. I am not sure if that applies in VA. My ticket is for 15 miles over the limit, with no priors. I am just also trying to see what good council can do in this situation, instead of just paying the fine, or going to court myself. Its a difference of 138.00 and 488.00. Please help!! Thanks.

Re: traffic violation

Nay, Sir, nary a "Prayer for Judgment"

as a disposition recognized under the law of the Commonwealth exists for either traffic infractions nor any other offenses which might be alleged.

Your best approach is likely to attempt to negotiate a plea deal with the ACA(Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney)assigned to your case before court commences and that(in consideration of any mitigating factors which might apply as well as your spotless record),that you be allowed to enter a plea to a reduced speeding charge (6 mph or more below the 15 mph with which you were charged).
