Legal Question in Traffic Law in Virginia

Wreckless driving

While driving my car on a town street I came up on a parked in front of me on the right shoulder of the road. The parked car was pointed in the same direction I was traveling and the back left tire was about a foot or more in the road. As I passed the car the driver opened the driver side door and my car struck the door. There is a lot of damage to both cars but no injuries to any passengers. A police officer came and looked over the accident and came to the conclusion I was at fault for failure to keep my car under control. I would like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Re: Wreckless driving

Many more facts would be needed in order to determine whether you or the other party were soley at fault or whether there might be a combination of culpability in this incident that might well require that responsiblity for this accident be apportioned between you and the other

individual.
