Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

Bank accounts

My sister was my mothers caregiver and her name was on my mothers banking accounts. She is claiming that those account belong to her and refuses to make that info public. My Brother is the administrator of the estate and now e-mails me that he spoke with an officer at his bank and they tell him that those accounts would be removed from the estate and in fact would belong solely to my sister. I find this odd and would like a clarification or someplace I can direct my brother to where he can get this info first hand.

Re: Bank accounts

Yes, the bank officer would likely be correct if the accounts were jointly held in your mother's and sister's names and with right of survivorship to your sister.
