Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

The beneficiary of an estate that I am the executor died just before preparing for final accounting. No one has come forward to claim the remaining estate balance . Attempts to get a reply from the lawyer representing the original beneficiary have failed, and the deadline for final accounting is near. How do I proceed?

Probably, you should request an extension from the commissioner of accounts

of the deadline for filing this final accounting to give you time sufficient to discover who the rightful heir of this deceased beneficiary may be, or, if there is no such person, then to determine how this remaining balance of the estate should be distributed and reported on for the final accounting.
