Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia
caregiver fees
My roommate died in Feb. 2008. I was his 24 hour a day caregiver for 58 weeks. Does that entitle me to present a bill to his estate for my services? He left no will but his family and children want the remaining money to come to me. We are talking about approximately 10000.00. Also, what claim would come first. Mine or the car co that repossed his car and will sell for auction and claim the balance due would come out of his money.

Re: caregiver fees
Tell the repossessing car company to take a hike with respect to any deficiency that they may claim as resulting from the auction of the vehicle.
If the deceased family's members then want you to have whatever funds remain in the estate, so be it and the presentation of your bill to the estate for services rendered should be necessary only if there's to be a final report presented to the commissioner of accounts.
