Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

deed of grandmothers house

I received the Real Estate Tax for my grandmothers house. Her will had stated that the estate would be split 6 ways. When I called the treasurer's office about the bill, I was informed that only my name was on the deed. Looking online for that city & state, I found that the property was infact transfered into my name Feb 28, 2008. Who do I contact to get a copy of the will, and why wouldn't I have been informed of this when the estate issued checks to all of us, and finished up. I am not sure what steps to take next....

Re: deed of grandmothers house

The executor of the estate should be willing to send you a copy of the will, and who also should be able to answer as to why you were not informed.

Pay the tax bill.
