What is the practical definition of this legal process.

Degrees of blood relationship(consanguinity) to the deceased person is what it's all about. Those persons bearing a closer relationship by blood to the decedent will be more likely to inherit from his or her estate than those less closely related. (See Va. Code Sec. 64.1-1 Course of descents generally.)
