father died no will 4yrs later step mom wants money

i think i need to clairfy, since we all was in agreement and my step mother stated she wanted no interest I have been the one paying mortgage and taxes on my father estate. They both had their own homes b4 getting married.(2yrs) She stated what was hers was hers and his ours, No administrator was appointed b/c legal counsel advise one wasn't needed since we all was in agreement. So you mean to say she still is entitled after we had a verbal agreement. And i have been covering the estate after 4 yrs? And Now she says she is the adminstrator when no one was legally appointed. Please Help

Looks like you got bad advice from the legal counsel. The idea that the distribution of the property of this estate could be settled by a verbal agreement between possible beneficiaries under the circumstances described is truly absurd.

Better see about getting yourself a lawyer who really understands what s/he is talking about.
