Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

my father passed in 2004 asbesto had something to do with it my brother is older so he is head of the estate. he has been getting a check since march2008 the law firm handling the case says they can not tell me anything about the case what can i do if i can not afford a lawyer
