Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

My husband passed away in 2007. He had a child from a previous relationship who before he died said she didn't want anything to do with him. He didn't have a will and now she is harassing me to give her stuff but will not say what she wants. I have given her several boxes of items and told her there were some other things she was to get when she got married per a conversation her father and I had before she died. I feel I have meet my obilgations to her am I wrong? There is no money to be had.

Unless paternity of this child had been formally established or she was born of a valid marriage, she would not be legally entitled to any of her alleged father's possessions or assets under Va. Code Sec. 64-1.1. Of course, whether you feel morally obligated to distribute these items to her would be a matter for you to decide.
