who can inherit with no will

is it true in va, that if a person willingly comes into a residence to take care of someone who is ill, and that person dies while in their care, can the caretaker inherit a percentage of the estate if there is no will?

ex---grandmother suddenly ill--husbands sister comes in 1 week before death--took some care of her--now states she will be moving in to look after husband--son does not want her there--can she inherit, and how can we remove her from the residence

This is absolutely not true. It is very important

to get the original of the decedent's will and

commence probate immediately. The person who

is living in the home should move out, or, if

the heirs agree, pay fair market rent for the

home under a written lease. The home furniture

and safe deposit boxes and jewelry should all

be inventoried and appraised as soon as possible.
