Go to the clerk's office of your local

probate court and show one of the clerks a copy of the will naming you as executor(along with any other necessary ID) and request to have a letter testamentary issued to you which will be evidence of your legitimate authority conferred by the court to begin the probate of the estate at issue. (In Virginia, the probate court is part of the circuit court which is where you should go to make this request.)
