Missing property willed to an heir

What happens if the Executor of a will in Virginia does not distribute items that were willed to an heir? Now those items are gone.

If the executor provably failed in his or her fiduciary duty to execute the will as directed, that person could be liable in civil damages to one or more of the beneficiaries named in the will.
