Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

If a person has "lifetime rights", has been given a home "for their life" and then the home reverts back to the children of the deceased, what happens if the person with the lifetime rights moves out and into assisted living? Does the property then pass to the children of the deceased?
