Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia
Real Property
I have kept the books for the estate of my parents since their death in 1991. My brother bought some of the personal property and gave a check to his lawyer for a portion of it. Rather than paying the estate and the estate dispersing the money to the heirs he (lawyer) dispersed it himself. Went before the judge and he ordered it to be paid to the estate but they ignored the order; went back to court and the judge reversed his ruling but did rule that they had 60 days to get a check to my lawyer for the remaining amount owed on the personal property. That was on June 1st. As of this date, my lawyer has not heard a word nor has he received a check. What is my recourse? Should I just turn this over to the Commissioner of Accounts? Thank you.

Re: Real Property
The commissioner of accounts is unlikely to become involved in this type of matter.
Your lawyer should be moving to have the one who has failed to comply with the court's most recent
order brought back into court on contempt charges.
