Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia

My wife and I jointly own the home we purchased in 2001. Only my name is on the mortgage and both of our names are on the deed as owners. If I precede my wife in dying, does she need to take action to assume the mortgage or can she just continue to pay the monthly payments without taking any action on the mortgage. She is my sole beneficiary and executor of my estate unless she dies first.

For all practical purposes, she can just keep on paying the mortgage. The lender only cares if the payments are not coming in.
