Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Virginia
No Will
I took care of my man friend for 2 years until he died.He has been dead for 10 months and now his grown children that he did not raise and they did not visit him while he was sick, They want his belongings. He did not leave a will but trusted me to give a few things to his children and his friends and the rest of his things he wanted me to have.He was a poor man and we are just talking about Art books and pictures that he gave me before he died. What are my rights?Do I have to give these things to his children?I have already given them each what there father wanted them to have.

Re: No Will
Unless you were married to this "man friend" who is now deceased, I regret to report that you have no legal claim to any of his belongings since he apparently left no will, and, therefore, his property must necessarily be distributed to his surviving next of kind as outlined in Title 64.1 of the Code of Virginia.
