Re: What is the law for workmans comp?

Virginia Workers Comp provides compensation and medical benefits for injured workers. You can obtain compensation if you have a specific accident or in some cases carpal tunnel syndrome. In your situation, you said your hand started hurting. If this is not associated with an accident such as lifting a box then you may not have a compensable claim. You did not indicate the doctor's diagnosis & without that information I could not help you further.

Of course, the worker's compensation insurance carrier can always deny a claim, but you can appeal or ask for a hearing to determine whether

their action was justified.
