Legal Question in Workers Comp in Virginia

Statute of limitations for a possible case

My friend discovered, during an eye examination, that he

could no longer wear contact lenses because of a possible permanent eye injury (any irritations to the eye will cause foreign substance in the eye a deprivation of oxygen to the cornea == continued irriation = blindness). he has strong

suspicions that the cause is from a former workplace where

there was little ventilation to the noxious fumes and pollution, and long hours working there. If he has a possible case, can he still file for worker's comp? How long does he have to file?
