Legal Question in Workers Comp in Virginia

workers compensation

we are a small company withfewer than 4 employees . we have an employee that states he was injured while on duty , although he never contacted us ton tell mus anything ti this nature. we do not carry worker comp. what should we do and if a co. should carry workers comp and isnt what is the remifications to this matter. thank you..mt

Your are required under Virginia law to provide workman's compensation at no cost to your employees if you have three or more employed within the same business.

Your employee is entitled to file a claim with the Workman's Compensation Commission for his alleged injury and you are obliged to cooperate with whatever officials become involved as a result of this filing with the process of investigating and adjudicating his claim(s).
