Workmans Compensation Claims
I was hurt on the job in Dec. 2000. A Workmans Comp. claim was filed and most medical services were covered.(I thought all had been covered) I started recieving collection letters from a Radiology clinic for an MRI I had when I was hurt. I have submitted this to my employer (however, I no longer work there)
but they have not done anything with it, meanwhile I keep getting collection letters and they are threatening to put this on my credit report. What can I do to avoid this?

You need to contact the VA Workers Comp Commission and request a claim form. You then need to file your claim for this bill to be paid with the Commission. You need to attach the bill and the doctor's note requesting the MRI. The Commission can be contacted at 1-804-367-8600. The Commission will then make a demand on the ins company to pay this bill. Remember you only have Two Years from the Date of your Accident to File a Claim for This Injury with The Commission.

Contact your former employer and find out why they haven't done anything. If that doesn't work, then contact the employer's insurance carrier for
workmans' compensation that handled your original claim and submit the MRI bill directly to them.
In the meantime, notify the Radiology Clinic that you are in the process of getting the bill taken care of.
