Employment Agreement/Independant Contractor
My business is located in Maryland, the client's business is located in Washington state, and I will be conducting Governmental Affairs as political strategist/lobbying consultant in Washington, DC. Which state agreement do I
sign for the employment contract to be binding?

The state law that you turn to in order to enforce the contract can be negotiated. Usually you look to the state in which you physically signed the contract. Another determinant is within which state will there be the most contact. If your office is in Maryland you may want to push Maryland as the state whose law controls the contract. If you believe that Washington state or Washington DC has more favorable contractual law, you might use either one.
