Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Washington

just filed for divorce and filing bankruptcy

I just filed for divorce and have to wait 90 days until our court date. I also want to file for bankruptcy, but If I do it now will it count against my wife's credit, and is she in danger of losing any possessions that aren't covered by exemptions? In other words, we're separated and have already filed for divorce, so can I file for bankruptcy without affecting her?

bk will effect your soon to be ex-wife

In all probability your filing a BK will effect your soon to bed ex-wife. This is because some of your debts are probaly community debts and she is liable. If you took out a loan while married and she signed the papers she is liable even if you file.

You need to talk to an attorney and have him/her look over your situation. If you don't you could have a lot of problems.
