Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Washington
Filing Bankruptcy
I'm drowning in debt and I'm considering bankruptcy. One of my outstanding
& biggest debt is a student loan. Some of my friends have told me that I can't
file bankruptcy against a student loan. Is this true?

Re: Filing Bankruptcy
Your friends are correct most student loans are not dischargeable. In order for you to get relief against a student loan creditor, you would need to show that that your circumstance is so egregious that you'll never be able to pay the loan back, i.e. you're disabled, you're dying, etc.
