Re: car loan in bankruptcy

In your bankruptcy papers, you must report everything. However, you can probably "reaffirm" the car loan, keep making payments and keep the car. If you don't have a lawyer, ask the bankruptcy court clerk or the official trustee about how to do this.

You really should protect yourself by getting a lawyer, though. If you can't afford one, ask Legal Aid for help. Most bar associations also have panels of lawyers willing to help for reduced fees.

Good luck!
