Legal Question in Business Law in Washington

Need attorney for help on a ''no compete clause''

I was removed from my business by a sly partner. This line of businness has been my life, sence 8 years old,I know no other line of business yet was told I can not do anything in this line of work for 2 years under a ''no Compete''. A business person here told me that he can't prevent me from making a living for my family. I did not quit of my own free will, my wife & I built up the company and this partner came to us with wonderful ideas and we fell into his web, he now owns the business. I now have another opportunity to do something in the same basic field and need an attorney to talk to for what my rights are. I was removed from the business about 8 months ago. I can't afford to be sued. I am now living in Oregon, the business was in California.

Thank you

Wanting to make a living

Re: Need attorney for help on a ''no compete clause''

There are exceptions to the enforcibility of no-compete clauses. The exceptions vary by state, but generally they must be "reasonable" to be enforced. If you would contact me to provide me with more information, I will try to assist you.
