Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
Aug 2010 we had to close our business, we suspected our book keeper was imbezzeling money. Our CPA discovered on Friday Nov. 19th that about 250,000 to 400,000 may be missing from just this year. We believe there is more missing from last year as well. We also found out that our book keeper has not paid the insurance bills since May 2010. and was under reporting to the IRS. I am confussed on who to contact or who can help me with me issue. Where do we start? Do I need to call the local police dept for a police report first. Do we hire an attorney first? Does the insurance company look into the books for us? Since we closed our business we have lost everything, we dont have much money to pay people to help us recover our losses.

As a Franchise Attorney I recommend you hire an attorney to review your situation before taking any steps. That said, you are free to file a police report and see if they will investigate. If your insurance company covers this loss under the current policy, you can file a claim with them. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
