Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
Employee resigned and took some of my business
Recently an employee resigned without notice from my company. Upon leaving he took a couple of my key customers with him.
We are a small company and the amount of revenues I lost are significant (about 30%+) - $3,000-4,000 per month.
Have I been damaged and is it possible for me to make such a claim????

Re: Employee resigned and took some of my business
If you lost $3,000 to $4,000 in monthly business, there is no doubt you have been damaged. However, if you did not have a non compete agreement with this employee, in order to collect any damages from him (or maybe even from his new employer) you probably would need to be able to prove that he is using your trade secrets or proprietary information to sell to your now former customers. Lawsuits over these things are actually quite common.
