Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
ex-partner
I was in a business partnership which closed last year 2007. Recently my ex-partner has reopen in a different location using the ex-business name which names me and has gone as far as coping and paste old business pictures of myself on their web site which I gave no permission to do so! My ex-partner has also gone as far to reopen the old business under other peoples names so not to be trace by State and/or IRS. I have given NO permission to use my name on the business nor permission to have my pictures posted on their web site. My ex-partner is selling our old products with also my name on items given past and present customers that our partnership and business is back in business. What can I do to stop the usage of my name and pictures? The partnership and business closed due to my ex-partner was stealing from myself and customers, now back doing it again and I do not want to be caught up in this again with my name and pictures on the recently reopen of this business. Thank you

Re: ex-partner
You will likely want to put your former partner on notice immediately that he does not have permission to represent that you are involved in the business. At the very least, notify him by certified mail.
However, I also urge you to talk with an attorney about this case. Details matter, and whether additional action is appropriate for you depends on the details. You might want to notify various authorities and you might want to bring a legal action, depending on the details.
