Legal Question in Business Law in Washington

My family just opened up a new business in a small community and have been open for about 6 months. We sell bottled water and bottled water delivery service featuring Distilled Water. We have been doing well and are gaining new customers every day and generally doing pretty well considering the economy. It was recently brought to our attention by one of our loyal customers that a competing sales person came into their office and told them that we were going out of business. Our customers who know us quite well through the local chamber and as fellow community members defended our business very well and told that sales person that they would be letting us know about his sales methods. That week the competing sales person came into our store and apologized for saying that. My opinion is that he is only sorry he got caught.

An apology is simply not good enough for me, no telling how many people he has told that to. I would like to take legal action against him and/or his company which is a fairly large national company. Do I have any grounds to take legal action?

Any attorney will tell you he slandered your business. There is also another tort - interference with economic advantage. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
