Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
Use of logos to create sample product
Is it a illegal to use a company's logo, without their permission, to create a sample product (for them only) in order to solicit an order for said product?
Ex: We take a company's logo and create a custom label for bottled water with it and then present it to them in order to persuade them to place an order for quantities of the product.
This sample product is not displayed or sold to anyone other than the primary company.

Strictly speaking, any unauthorized use of a trafe name, trademark or trade logo coul dbe construed as an infringement of the owner's rights. It is always best to seek permission beforehand from the owner to avoid any ill will or bad feelings.
