Legal Question in Business Law in Washington
Noncompete from source company to spinoff binding?
Hi,
I signed a noncompete agreement with my original employer 5 years ago. This company was then split into 2 different ones with me going with the new one. This company (an LLC) is under completely different ownership than the original company is now. I was never asked to sign a new noncompete with the new company. Is the noncompete from the original company binding with the new one?
Thank you.

Probably...would depend on how the corporate restructure was accomplished and possible restrictions against assignability in your non-compete.
