Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

bullying

my daughter is mentally disabled. she is 16. she has been picked on and bullied at school to the point we had to do a crisis intervention at the school because she wanted to kill herself. the staff at her school has never tried to protect her from these other kids. i have talked to the school many times about what my daughter has to endure on a daily basis. they just were never interested. i pulled my daughter out of school yesterday. for good. i just don't know where to go from here. what i am sure of is that my daughter evidently does not have the right to get her education in peace at this school. horrible things were done to her there. and the kids responsible completely got away with it. and i just hoped it would all go away and things would get better, but they got worse.

There are attorneys who specialize in school law. Try the directory at wstla.org You can probably get at least a free consultation.

Meanwhile, write to the school board. File a discrimination complaint with the state Human Rights Commission and the Office of Civil Rights of the Dept of Education.

Good luck,

Merry
