Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington
Someone called the cops on my girlfriend saying she was doing drugs in a casino parking lot. The cops got there and they started questioning her telling her that someone had said she was doing drugs. She told them she was just waiting for her boyfriend that was in the casino. The cops then went into the casino and looked at there parking lot camera. They called to the officer at her car and said they saw her doing drugs on the camera. The officer then rips her out of her car and tells her she is being detained untill they search her car. After she told the officers she was doing nothing wrong and multiple times that they could not search her car they threatened her saying that if she wouldn't let them search her car they would just get a search warrant and search it anyways. She finally said they could search the car. 4 officers searched every inch of the car for over 45 min and didn't find anything. They then un cuffed her and said she was free to go. Did the officers have the right to do what they did, when obviously they didn't see her doing any drugs or they would have arrest her for doing drugs. Is there anything we should do to file a complaint? I feel she was mis treated and lied there way into searching the car by saying they saw her doing drugs when obviously not.

She consented to the search. She shouldn't have done that if she didn't want it searched.
