Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

inground basketball hoop

my neighbor has an inground hoop that borders our property and when they play the balls hit our cars that are in our driveway. We have asked them to not play when our cars are in the driveway but they said they would not stop. Is there any rights that we have short of them breaking or denting our cars? And then even if they did we wouldn't have any proof unless we were watching at the time it happened. What can we do?

It depends. If you are neighbors at an apartment complex, complain to the manager.

If you are neighbors of houses next to one another, would it help to put up netting or a fence? If not, I suggest you contact an attorney about filing a nuisance action. Meanwhile, talk to your insurance agent about your cars - you may want to switch to zero deductible.

Good luck,

Merry
