Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington
restraining order legality
my 71 yr old sister issued a AHRO
angainst me in another state, which
says I cannot write letters to her
neighbors regarding her. This, it
claims, is harassment.
Is this contitutional? What about
free speech?
She is welcome to sue me for
slander if she wants, that is fine,
I feel like this is Red China stuff.
What to do , Magoo?
....seriously, how can I get this
turkey RO oveturned???

Re: restraining order legality
I'm glad you asked. Stop writing the stupid letters, and the RO will take care of itself. Your 71-year-old sister? What in the name of God is the matter with you?
Re: restraining order legality
The question is, why did your sister obtain a TRO? Were you harassing her? Or is there something wrong with her, like dementia, that makes her be paranoid about you.
For a TRO to be valid for more than two weeks (usually), you would need to have been served and have an opportunity to appear. If not, the TRO is not valid against you.
If you are worried about your sister, please contact the police or Adult Protective Services in the state in which she lives.
If there's nothing wrong with her, why are you writing the letters?
