Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Washington

security guard and 16yro rights?

my 16yro son was in a mall w/friends. He tossed (underhand) a ball of yarn to a pal approx 5-6 ft away. the pal missed and the yarn hit the glass pane of the security office. no damage of course. security came out and escorted my son inside and immed. banned him for a 7 day period. he wasnt even allowed to apologize. he signed a paper agreeing to this...(he wasnt given a copy nor was i notified.)..escorted out the mall doors where the guard told him he wasnt allowed inside the mall for a week...my son was detained 2 days later in the parking lot. He didnt realize that the ban included the exterior part of the mall, on the edge of it to boot. now i agree its criminal trespassing...however i feel security shouldnt have placed the original ban without at least a warning or even detain my son without contacting me, much less having him sign something and not providing a copy. the police officer responding to this suggested i pursue it via discovery/contact the mall management, ect...(perhaps to get 1st ban is dropped? then the crim trespass charge should be also?oh, i asked security if they would have warned an adult in the same circum..they said yes! to which i said ''but why not my son..a minor?
