Legal Question in Technology Law in Washington
illegal eavesdropping?
If I'm called in to my client's office to
work on their workstation, and they've
left their email open on their
workstation's desktop, is it illegal to
read the email that is open there?

Re: illegal eavesdropping?
You probably do not have criminal liability. Depending on circumstances you may have civil liability for invasion of privacy, and you may have other civil liability depending on how you used the information.
