car dealer

i bought a car from a dealer it had 10,900 miles. i traded car in on another car. the car i traded in then had approx 13,500 miles.the dealer that i purchased new car came to me about 5 months later saying the state was showing the trade in car had 17,600 miles on it and they couldnt make a deal with people trying to buy it and they were going to charge me the money it was going to take to close the deal.i singed all the the appropriate odometer papers at both dealerships.

I'd strongly recommend that you look on avvo.com for an attorney who is versed in car trade-in contracts, contact them and make an appointment.

You probably also want to contact the State's AG's office and tell them what is happening.

Car dealers now want "guarantees" regarding trade-ins, e.g. your sworn statement about mileage, etc. Their contract says that if you give them incorrect information, or are PROVEN to have known about a discrepancy in information, they think they can sue you.

You'd do well to find an attorney that has experience with this, and talk to them for a half hour.
