Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington

Compel Judgement Debtor To Provide Bank Account Info

I've won a small claims case against an auto repair firm that now ignores requests for payment of judgment. Before I can request garnishment of the firm's bank account I need to compel the firm to provide bank and account information. What is the correct writ or motion or other action that is appropriate.

Thanks.

Re: Compel Judgement Debtor To Provide Bank Account Info

You don't have to request payment after 30 days - just file the transcript with the superior court in your county.

That effectively functions as a judgment against any real property they may own. It will show up on their credit report. Then you can do supplemental proceedings to find out about their assets.

Once you know what their assets are and where they are located, you can collect your judgment.

There are attorneys who do this, and collection agencies too. Their charges can be added on (they are still going to take a percentage, though).

Unless they bankrupt out of it.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
