Legal Question in Consumer Law in Washington
Contract validity
I signed a contract providing membership to a health studio. However, some of the clauses in the contract were unfair. Washington State Law states that certain information must be in such a contract, including ''The name and address of the health studio facilities operator'' RCW 19.142.040 (1). If the contract lists no such operator, specifically because the studio doesn't have a facilities operator, is the contract void and unenforcable under RCW 19.142.090?

Re: Contract validity
The contract is probably valid, based upon the information you provided here. A judge is looking to see that there are two parties - you and the club - and that both have capacity to act, and that they provide a benefit and you pay them money. Those are the elements of a valid, enforceable contract. If one of those elements is missing then a contract can be found voidable. Whether or not the club has a facilites operator is likely *not* going to be the dispositive issue as to the validity and enforceability of the contract.
The AG's website has information regarding contracts with health clubs. YOu might want to look there for more specific information.
